Established in 1980 by Lee McComb to serve the Julian, Borrego Springs and Palomar areas, Monument Peak Land Surveying continues to provide a wide range of surveying services to all of San Diego County and beyond, beginning with boundary surveys and topographic mapping.

Prior to 1980, Lee worked for nearly a decade in the surveying and land use industry on both major and minor subdivisions and commercial projects in San Diego County's cities, especially the City of San Diego, as well as the unincorporated areas.

From the coastline to the desert

A native of Vista with his first office in Point Loma, Lee has practiced in the coastal communities since the 1970s, from National City to Oceanside and more recently in Mission Hills, La Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas. He maintains a complement of advanced tools and technologies that work together to span the county with up-to-date field and office efficiency. To increase functionality and competitiveness, he developed his own navigational tools for working in rough terrain and forest country, and created his own CAD environment to streamline field surveying and office mapping.

Lee attended Palomar College and the University of California at Riverside, focusing on math, physics and engineering. He became professionally registered in 1977, and that year set up an office in Point Loma named Geodyssey. The first order of business was to continue with a project, started with Curtis Brown, to manage lot line adjustments between some twenty landowners to match improvements or fences.

As a Julian resident for over 30 years, he has written dozens of articles to promote Julian's fine artists. He continues to serve affected members of the community in their rebuilding efforts, due to the Cedar Fire of 2003, with his knowledge of planning and zoning codes.

Lee co-founded Project Wildlife in the early 1970s and currently is developing a web site on wildlife photography and hiking destinations in San Diego's mountains and deserts. His primary avocation is developing instructional material to aid teachers in applied geometry and algebra for K-12 students.
